Learn about NZMS Governance, including committee leadership, policies, and the governance framework supporting Masters swimming
NZMS Governance provides the leadership, structure and accountability required to support Masters swimming throughout New Zealand. Governance ensures that the organisation operates in accordance with its constitution, policies, strategic priorities and legal obligations while promoting the long-term sustainability of Masters swimming across Aotearoa.
The NZMS Committee works on behalf of members and affiliated clubs to guide the direction of the organisation, oversee financial management, maintain key policies and support the development of opportunities for swimmers of all abilities. Good governance helps ensure that decisions are transparent, consistent and aligned with the interests of both current and future members.
NZMS is committed to responsible governance and continuous improvement. Strategic planning helps ensure resources are used effectively and that the organisation remains focused on its purpose of promoting swimming for fitness, friendship and competition.
The Committee regularly reviews organisational priorities, member feedback and emerging opportunities to support the growth of Masters swimming. Governance documents such as the Constitution, policies, annual reports and strategic plans provide transparency and accountability to members and stakeholders.
Masters Swimming in New Zealand relies heavily on the dedication of volunteers. Committee members, officials, event organisers and club administrators all contribute to the success of the organisation and the experiences of members.
Strong governance encourages participation, supports succession planning and helps develop future leaders within the Masters swimming community. By working together, clubs and volunteers play an important role in ensuring Masters swimming remains inclusive, sustainable and enjoyable for everyone involved.
