World Records are updated by World Aquatics in May and November are are available from the World Aquatics website.
New Zealand Masters Swimming maintains official national records for Masters swimmers across a range of age groups and events. Records recognise performances achieved in both long course (50 metre) and short course (25 metre) pools. As a result, they provide a lasting record of achievement within the Masters swimming community.
Masters swimming recognises that excellence can be achieved at any age. Therefore, records are organised into five-year age groups, allowing swimmers to compete against their peers and measure their progress throughout their swimming journey. Whether a swimmer sets a personal best, a club record, a national record, or even a world record, every achievement contributes to the rich history of Masters swimming in New Zealand.
NZMS records and maintains national Masters swimming records and ensures they remain accurate and up to date following approved competitions and performances. In addition, swimmers can achieve records at NZMS-sanctioned events, recognised overseas competitions, and other qualifying swims that meet approved conditions.
